In Hollidaysburg, November 13th will forever be known as “Donna Malone Day”, as Mayor Joe Dodson playfully declared during the “Citizen of the Year“ award ceremony.
Donna Malone was nominated and selected by Hollidaysburg Borough Council based on her years of dedication to the improvement of the community and goodwill toward her fellow citizens. Donna has been a long-standing member of the GFWC Hollidaysburg Area Women’s Club (1990), an active member on the Board of Directors for the Hollidaysburg Area Public Library (2003-2017) and is currently the Office Manager at Spring Cove Container where she has been employed since 2007.
Non Profit Work
Within GFWC Hollidaysburg Area Women’s Club, Donna has held various positions such as; Communications PR & Social Media Chair, Recording Chair, Corresponding Secretary, Recording Secretary, Vice President, President, & Club Newsletter Editor.
Through the years, Donna and our club members have been responsible for Kids Kingdom Play Park at Legion Park (25th Anniversary in 2021), park enhancements for Canal Basin park, partnership with the Discovery Garden at Legion Park (20th Anniversary in 2020), supporting the local shelters through various programs and initiatives, supporting local students and non-profit organization through funding from our Annual St Patrick’s Day Dinner & Dance, and so much more.
Donna is currently serving GFWC Pennsylvania as Communications & PR Chair and will serve as the 2nd Vice President in the 2020-2022 administration. In 2024, Donna is slated to be GFWC Pennsylvania’s President for the 2024-2026 year.
During her time on the Board of Directors with the Hollidaysburg Area Public Library, she served 6 years as Board Secretary and was a part of the decision-making process for the rebuilding of the Library at 1 Furnace Road.
