Lois A. Richards

Lois Richards has been a member of GFWC since 1977.  She has served her local club, GFWC Curwensville, as Club President and treasurer several times each and has been the chairman of a number of different committees.  She has been a county president, Northwestern District Leadership Chair twice, PA State Safety Division Chair, State Bylaws Committee Member, and State Resolutions Committee member.  Lois was selected as the 2012 Pennsylvania LEADS candidate.  She served the Middle Atlantic Region as a member of the auditing committee.  She currently serves GFWC Pennsylvania as the president.
Lois received a degree in Education and also a Master’s degree from Penn State and first worked as an elementary long-term substitute.  She soon began working in Career and Technical Education, where she taught Adult Education classes, then coordinated the Cooperative Education Program, and finally served as the school’s Executive Director.  Lois retired December 2013 as the Executive Director of the Clearfield County Career and Technology Center after 25 years with the school.  Following her retirement, she accepted a position as college faculty for Indiana University of Pennsylvania and is currently still working as a consultant for the Pennsylvania Department of Education.  Lois and her husband Edward have three children and five grandchildren.

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

Shelly Smolnery

Shelly Smolnery has resided in Baden her entire life.  She attended the Ambridge Area School District.  She went on to attend The Pennsylvania State University where she majored in Home Economics Education.  Upon completion of her degree she taught junior high Home Economics ( Family and Consumer Science) for 38 years in the Ambridge Area School District.  She retired in 2011 and is enjoying her pursuit of travel.   She has traveled to all 50 states, China and several trips to Europe.  Her other interests include sewing, reading and watching professional sports. 
Her federation life started at a young age.  Her Mother, Shirley, was involved in the Baden Woman's Club for over 50 years and passed on the love of federation to her daughter.  Shelly joined woman's club upon graduation from college and has been an active member her entire adult life.  Her federation accomplishments include all club offices in the Woman's Club of Baden and chairman of every department and program. She was also a member of the Women's Club of Beaver Valley where she held many chairmanships as well as all officer positions.  She served the Beaver County Federation as chairman of Arts, Education, Home Life, Conservation, International Affairs, Fund Raising as well as the offices of Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President and President.
Shelly has served on the GFWC Pennsylvania board since 1994.  She has held department chairmanships in Community Improvement Program, International Affairs, Home Life, Conservation, Education, President Project as well as the office of Treasurer and Southwestern District Director.   Her accomplishments also include working on four GFWC Pennsylvania Convention Committees as well as a Summer Conference Committee.   She is currently serving as the GFWC Pennsylvania Second Vice President.   Shelly has served on the Middle Atlantic Region board as a finance committee member and is currently the Standing Rules Chairman.

   
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 

Sandy Hauenstein

Sandy Hauenstein has been an active member of federation for more than 36. She joined the GFWC Dillsburg Woman’s Club in 1980 having served in the club as President, First Vice President, Recording Secretary and Treasurer, as well as chairing numerous committees, departments and fundraisers through the years. She transferred her membership to the Upper Allen Woman’s Club GFWC in 2011 and has been the club’s Arts Department Chairman since 2012. She has served on various committees as well.
Sandy served as the South Central District Director from 1998-2000 and was Arts Chairman several years. She currently chairs the nominating committee.
At the state level, Sandy is currently serving as Second Vice President, Dean of Departments and a member of the Long Range Planning Committee.  In the 2012-2014 administration she was Clubwoman Editor. She was elected Treasurer in 2010 and served two consecutive terms. She has chaired the Education Department, Arts Department and Leadership Department. She was the Clubwoman Editor and Communications/Public Relations Chairman in 2004-2006 and 2014-2016. She served as the State President’s Project Chairman during the 2006-2008 administration.
Sandy is a Certified Property Manager and member of the Charitable Foundation Board at Property Management, Inc. where she has been employed since 1992.
Sandy enjoys many hobbies, travel, friends and most of all her family of two sons and their spouses, a daughter and seven wonderful grandchildren.

 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
   
 
 
 

Judy Grace

Judy Grace is originally from Brooklyn New York.  She is a graduate of Ladycliff College and did her graduate studies at Hofstra University and Fordham University.  Judy taught for many years, after which she was a Day Care Director and the Office Manager for a Cardiologist.
She and her husband were very active in the Brooklyn Council of the Boy Scouts of America.  Judy served as a Cub Leader and Troop Committee member.  She was on the faculty of a Junior Leadership Training course, earned her Wood Badge Beads, was on the faculty of many Cub and Boy Scout Training Courses, attended Camp training school and served as Camp Commissioner, Camp Business Manager and District Commissioner.  During that time Judy was also active in Community Theater, having played, among otherparts, the title role in Hello Dolly.
After moving to Pennsylvania in 1999, Judy has served GFWC as Pocono Mountain Women’s Club (PMWC) Treasurer, GFWC Monroe County Treasurer, GFWC Pennsylvania 2005 Convention Registration Chairman, President, GFWC Pocono Mountain and GFWC Monroe County, GFWC PA Conservation Co-Chairman, PMWC Newsletter and Yearbook editor, PMWC Fashion Show Chairman, PMWC President’s Project Chairman, GFWC PA Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention Chairman, GFWC NE District Membership Chairman, GFWC Northeastern District Secretary and GFWC Pennsylvania Woman of the Year Chairman.  Judy is active in her community having been Chairman, and now Secretary of the community’s Security Committee. She and her husband also started a Cabaret Group, performing in local communities and in Senior Facilities in Monroe County.

Diane Lake

Diane Lake is originally from Staten Island, New York where she taught Elementary School for 29 years. She has a Master Degree in History and Education from Richmond College, a division of the City University of NY. After retiring from teaching she moved to the Poconos 11 years ago.
Soon after arriving Diane joined the GFWC Pocono Mountain Women’s Club. Diane quickly made friends and became involved as the Dollars for Delegates Chairman. She held other chairman positions until 2008-2010 when she was elected the 1st Vice-President. In 2010 her club nominated her for the PA LEADS. She attended the International Convention in Omaha, NE representing Pennsylvania. Upon her return she assumed the position of President of her club. In 2012 Diane was elected the president of the GFWC Monroe County Federation of Women’s Clubs and in 2014 she was installed as the GFWC PA Northeastern District Director.
Besides her activities with GFWC she is the Volunteer Coordinator and a Technician at Clymer Library in Pocono Pines. She is a Tobyhanna Township Auditor and volunteers at her local food pantry, delivers Meals On Wheels and is an active member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish where she is a Lector and Eucharistic Minister.
